Medical school admission is different.

If you have CNS paper, it\'s a plus.
If you have Ph. D, it\'s a plus.
IVY will be a plus.

So your school reputation is not very important, since you are not in IVY.

The most important thing now becomes MCAT, and then GPA (since you are Ph. D
program)

Your Ph. D GPA will be discounted, because in the admission committee\'s mind
, undergraduate GPA is usually lower than graduate program, but more
important. Keep at least 3.7 graduate GPA.

Your GPA from China will not be considered.

So get a real good MCAT, and be careful about the verbal part. You cannot be
lower than 9,

The difficulty of applying for medical varies every year. Now it\'s getting
harder.

Again, if with 35+ MCAT, and 3.7+ GPA, an international applicant should be
able to get in somewhere, assuming that he/she applies broadly and does
well in interview.

Applying for MD/PhD is another choice. Quit program if you get
into MD/PhD. It usually takes 7-8 yrs to get both degress. You will have
scholarship and no tuition payment. Life will be much easier, only 4 years
longer.
